But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. - I John 1: verse 7
This passage is a theological connect-the-dots! The short version is I should admit my personal sinful nature so I can draw close to God. The follow-on to that is, if I won't do that, I can't have that closeness with God which I need.
Today, I will admit to myself and to God that I fall short of what I should think, say, and do, asking for his forgiveness.
