Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sake, I will now say Peace be with thee. -Psalm 122: verses 7-8
So, here is a king wishing peace in his capital city, for the sake of his family and friends. Not a bad thing to wish for anytime of year, but especially at the start of a new one! I would bet that along the way, President Obama, and Governor Malloy, and the Mayors of Newington, New Britain, and Tolland have wish for peace in our cities, for our sake.
Today, I will ask for peace in our towns, in our state, in our country, and in our world. Silly? Maybe. But if real peace is in the heart, maybe not as silly.
